Dear Friends of the Friars: April 2008
As a supporter of our development efforts of our Sacred Heart Province I want to convey to you a brief report on the health of Bro. Bill. Our director, Brother Bill Schulte, OFM, suffered a stroke on February 27th which greatly affected his speech and movement on his right side.
Brother received quality care from St. Mary’s Hospital here in St. Louis for about two weeks. He is presently at a rehabilitation center sponsored by the Alexian Brothers. The St. Louis based center is widely known as a quality site for occupational therapy and treatment for the effects of a stroke.
Brother Bill has been a very effective Director of our development efforts for the past 25 years and now faces a lengthy period of rehabilitation. Fr. Bertin Miller, OFM and Fr. Allan DaCorte, OFM have been appointed to oversee the operation of our development efforts until the position of Director of Development can be stabilized. Be assured that the office will continue to function effectively.
We are including the letter Brother wrote for his April correspondence with you, our partners. His thoughts bring us back to our familiar roots.
Brother Bill has welcomed your prayer requests over the years and assured you of the prayers of the Franciscan Friars. Now it is your turn to pray for Brother Bill as he labors through strenuous physical therapy to regain his speech and movement. Please remember him in your prayers!!! He sends you his love and best wishes!
We trust in your continued support of the ministry of the Friars of our Sacred Heart Province. If there is anything you need feel free to contact our present office manager, Mr. Richard Grace. He has been working in the office for a good number of years and you can continue to count on his expertise.
Be assured of our prayers for you and know that the success of our development efforts depend on your continued generosity as all of us pull together.
Peace and all that is good!
Fr. Allan DaCorte, ofm
Provincial Treasurer
