Year of Mercy Water Project
Beginning in the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, the Franciscans of Sacred Heart have been raising money to dig wells in Africa. Remembering that one of the Corporal Works of Mercy is “to give drink to the thirsty,” we hope to relieve the suffering of people in the Democratic Republic of Congo where Fr. Damien Isabell, OFM, has been working for over 30 years. Since its inception in 2016, generous donors have allowed the Franciscans to underwrite the digging of eight wells. Two more wells and several smaller water projects are being planned.
Your contribution to our Year of Mercy Water Project will help to provide wells which will give the people of the DRC better access to safe drinking water.
